Mini Art Print: This wonderful painting by French artist Jean Leon Gerome has a wonderful story behind it from Greek times; Pygmalion was the King of Cyprus and longed for his ideal woman. He began despairing and consequently decided to create the epitome of beauty himself. So, he fashioned a statue of his ideal woman and called her Galatea. Pygmalion was so taken by his creation that he fell deeply in love with her but became more forlorn as he realised she would never be more than a statue. Much to his delight, Aphrodite the Goddess of Love took pity on the poor King and brought his Galatea to life. This stunning painting was created by the French artist Jean Leon Gerome, so why not fall in love with the story yourself, and hang this mini print of Pygmalion and Galatea on your wall.
