Skateboarding Mini Poster: Legend has it that skateboarding first began in California in the 1950's, when surfers hit upon the idea of 'surfing the sidewalk'. Hitting a popular peak in the early '60s, the craze then died out until 1972, when Frank Nasworthy invented urethane skateboard wheels and sparked a new interest in the sport.
