Photography Mini Poster: Raising the flag on Iwo Jima is an historic photo by Joe Rosenthal which captures the raising of the U.S. flag atop Mount Suribachi by five Marines and one Navy Corpsman. It was taken on the fifth day of the 35 day battle as the US army fought to capture the Japanese island of Iwo Jima in the Pacific Campaign of World War II.
