Photography Poster: The Arc de Triomphe on place Charles de Gaulle in Paris was Napoleon 's commemoration of his victories, based on & of the same proportions as The Arch of Titus in Rome, yet much larger. Even though the Arch de Triomphe was commissioned in 1806 it wasn't finished until 1836 under the reign of Louis Philippe. The best known relief on the Arch is the Departure of the volunteers in 1792, better known as the Marseillaise, the Arch also holds the Grave of the Unknown Soldier.
