Che Guevara

Celebrity Print: Argentine marxist, author, physician, diplomat, guerrilla leader and revolutionary, Che Guevara is a cultural icon whose legacy lives on over 40 years after his execution. This iconic photograph of El Che in his black beret, transformed the charismatic leader into an image of determination; someone who was the voice of the people! Taken by photographer Alberto Korda on March 5th 1960 at a memorial service for the ‘La Coubre explosion’, he explained that he was struck by Guevara’s facial expression at the time which he believed to illustrate his, "absolute implacability as well as anger and pain". This timeless black and white print has become the symbol which represents revoluntionary ideals - all encompassed within the powerful glare of Che Guevara.
