Burning Buddhist Monk

Size: 61X91.5 cm Poster
Rock Music Poster: Rage Against the Machine is an American rock band, formed in Los Angeles, California in 1991. The band's members are vocalist Zack de la Rocha, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford, and drummer Brad Wilk. Rage Against the Machine is noted for its blend of hip hop, heavy metal, punk and funk as well as its revolutionary politics and lyrics. This poster demonstrates the bands political ideas as it features Thich Quang Duc, a Buddhist monk from Vietnam, burning himself to death at a busy intersection in downtown Saigon to bring attention to the repressive policies of the Catholic Diem regime that controlled the South Vietnamese government at the time. While burning Thich Quang Duc never moved a muscle. These philosophies have always been at the core of the bands music.
