Music Poster: The American rock band Alice in Chains was formed in 1987 by guitarist Jerry Cantrell and lead singer Layne Staley. The band were part of the 1990's grunge movement and quickly gained a cult following selling over 14 million albums in the US alone including 2 number 1's on the Billboard chart; Jar of Flies and the eponymous Alice in Chains. Sadly Layne Staley struggled for years with substance abuse and he was found dead in 2002 due to an overdose of heroin and cocaine. Just one month before his death he had admitted "I know I'm near death, I did crack and heroin for years. I never wanted to end my life this way".
