French Art Nouveau Poster: Theophile Alexandre Steinlen, who is also frequently referred to as just Steinlen, was born on November 10, 1859; he later died at the age of 64 on December 13, 1923. Steinlen was a Swiss-born artist who focused his work in the genre of Art Nouveau. Steinlen was befriended by the painter Adolphe Willette who introduced him the artistic crowd at 'Le Chat Noir'. This led Steinlen to paint the widely-known advertisement poster for the cabaret owner, Aristide Bruant.
