Japanese Art Poster: Pieter Irwin Brown was a Dutch artist also going by the name of Pieter van Oort. He went to Japan in the 1930s. He was among those foreign artists who were commissioned with print subjects in shin hanga style by Tokyo print publisher Watanabe Shozaburo. Original wood block prints from Brown are rare and expensive. Pieter Irwin Brown died presumably in New York, forgotten by this world. And not even the year of his death is known.
