The Station at Saint Lazare

Art Print: The busy train station of Saint Lazare is the inspiration for this piece by Claude Monet. With the desire to paint more urban landscapes, Monet explored the station and produced some stunning perspectives of the building where colour and light build up the atmosphere of the picture more than distinctive lines of trains or people. A composition of natural colours, subtle brushstrokes and elegant lighting this painting may have been built up of new subject matter for Monet but his fundamental techniques and style are still wonderfully apparent in this atmospheric urban piece.
